Nearly 500 people in Huntington County took advantage of getting free health screenings Parkview Huntington Hospital’s 2019 Healthy Steps wellness fair.

Those who attended also got a tour of the new Holly D. Sale Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, which opened this spring, as they made their way to the various stations. Parkview Huntington Hospital staff offered free blood pressure checks along with free hearing, vision dental, balance, bone density, skin cancer and foot health screenings.

The new wellness center added two adult and two pediatric specialty gyms, more than 15 private treatment rooms, an Activities of Daily Living lab, a pediatric kitchen, dietary and diabetes consultation rooms and other areas to the PHH campus.

“Whether trying their dexterity at the surgery demo, or chatting with knowledgeable team members on a variety of health subjects, guests started their Saturday off on the right foot,” PHH community relations specialist Leslie Megison said.

PHH decided to hold this year’s wellness fair a month later than usual, and Megison said the event drew a good-sized crowd.

“Guests at the event seemed very impressed and excited by their opportunity to see our new rehab and wellness center,” she said.
