1st Source Bank donates to Pathfinders

STAFF REPORT

HUNTINGTON — The Pathfinder Services, Inc. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program received a $5,000 donation on Friday, Sept. 13, from 1st Source Bank.

HomeOwnership Center Director Justin Barker and VITA Coordinator Kristy Wall were presented with a check from 1st Source Bank Assistant Vice President Lyle Juillerat and Business Banker Luke Squires at the Pathfinder Office on Theater Avenue in Huntington.

The VITA Program, which will be in its 11th year, offers free tax preparation assistance to households in Huntington and Wabash Counties with an income of less than $55,000 the previous year.

“1st Source has been a wonderful partner to us by offering support for many years,” says Wall. “This donation will help us serve more than a thousand individuals and families to get the tax preparation help they need.”

The VITA Program’s success can be seen in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in total Earned Income Tax Credits and millions of dollars in tax refunds generated for families each year.

“It is clear to us at 1st Source Bank that the VITA program is vital to the community, so we are thrilled to help support the efforts,” says Juillerat. “The financial well-being of the community is important to us and this is one way to help ensure that goal.”

Pathfinder Services, Inc. will begin offering the VITA Program Service for the 2019 tax year in Jan. of 2020. Specific dates are yet to be determined.
