Parkview Huntington Hospital received a $50,000 gift to benefit rehab and fitness programs.
Huntington-based First Federal Savings Bank and members of the family that has been at the helm of the institution for more than a half-century have made a major gift dedicating the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation/Fitness Gym area in the Holly D. Sale Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at Parkview Huntington Hospital (PHH).
The $50,000 gift – made jointly by Michael and Susan Zahn, Stephen and Alyce Zahn, and First Federal Savings Bank – will be part of an unrestricted fund administered by the Parkview Huntington Foundation and used for enhancements and improvements throughout the Holly D. Sale Center.
Michael Zahn is president and chief executive officer of First Federal, and Stephen Zahn, his father, serves as chair of the bank’s board of directors. Susan Zahn currently serves the community as a member of the PHH Board of Directors.
“First Federal Savings Bank and the Zahn family are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Parkview Huntington Foundation,” said Michael Zahn. “Holly’s passion of health and wellness in Huntington can now be seen every day in the Holly Sale Center. This facility will bring positive transformational changes to so many in our community.”
“We could not be more honored,” said Juli Johnson, president of PHH. “The Zahns are incredibly supportive of so many programs and projects that have a positive impact on people’s lives and make this a great place to live. We’re grateful that PHH’s patients, as well as other area residents, will benefit from their vision thanks to this gift.”
The Cardiopulmonary/Fitness Gym contains equipment and space for patients receiving therapy for everything from cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical therapy and occupational therapy to everyday strength and conditioning workouts. It is the focus of the 7,472 square feet that had been the hospital’s original rehabilitation and wellness area, now remodeled and reconfigured as part of the
Holly D. Sale Center expansion that opened in the spring of this year.
“For more than 50 years, the Zahn family and First Federal Savings Bank have been there to help people in our area make the most of life’s opportunities, at home and in business,” said Mike Perkins, director of Parkview Huntington Foundation. “Their generous gift in support of the work being done in the Holly D. Sale Center will help people enjoy better health today and a more fulfilling tomorrow.”
