Marilyn Mae Smith (Braman) Morris, 88, passed away on December 25 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, Indiana after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Marilyn’s family is grateful for the special care she received from Heritage Pointe staff. Marilyn was born in Huntington on March 14, 1932 to the late Erroll B. Smith and Madelyn I. Ulrey.
She graduated from Huntington High School in 1950, attended Indiana University in Bloomington and later received her RN degree from IUPU in Fort Wayne. She loved Indiana Hoosier basketball, especially when Coach Bobby Knight was at the helm. Marilyn loved other sports and even tried out for the Fort Wayne Daisies in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She lovingly raised five children and shared her care with the world while working as a nurse for more than 30 years. She enjoyed living with and caring for her pets and was a lifelong reader. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.
