wiley 800

Addison Wiley approaches the finish line during the 800 meter run at the state championship on June 5. Wiley won the 800 and 1,600 meter races at the Indiana State Championship, and followed up that performance on June 12 with a record-setting mile victory in Alabama.

Huntington North High School junior Addy Wiley’s incredible season continued last Saturday as she captured first place in the mile at the RunningLane Track Championship in Alabama.

In the race, Wiley not only finished first among a standout group, she also set the Indiana record for fastest mile time by a high school girl. Wiley finished with a time of 4:38.14, significantly faster than her winning time in the 1,600-meter at the Indiana State Finals two weeks ago. In that race Wiley finished in 4:45.27, despite the mile being a little over eight meters longer than the 1,600.
